Plenty of characters have come and gone from the Yellowstone Dutton ranch during the popular Paramount series’ five-season and counting run. While some made their way under “Train Station” after becoming enemies of the Dutton family, some “Yellowstone” potential characters left the show for some benign reason or another. Cassidy Reed (Kelly Rohrbach’s), the blonde prosecutor who ran for state attorney general in Season 2 but vanished after just four episodes, is one of them.
At the beginning of “Yellowstone” Season 2, Cassidy was introduced as a potential alternative to Jamie (Wes Bentley) on the A.G. ballot, or Jamie’s adoptive father (and frequent adversary) John (Kevin Costner) endorsed Cassidy. Black sheep Jamie (who we think will definitely die in Season 5) was initially willing to betray the entire Dutton family for a powerful position, but he eventually backed out of the election, so Cassidy won by default. In fact, by the sixth episode of Season 2, Cassidy was gone, and “Baywatch” and “Ocean’s 8” actor Rohrbach disappeared with her.

Promoted to Attorney General Offscreen

On the show, an explanation for Cassidy’s absence is eventually given, though it doesn’t come until the third episode of Season 3, so fans are left wondering where she ended up for seven episodes. As noted under TVLine, future governor Lynelle Perry (Wendy Moniz-Grillo) is the one who breaks the news about Cassidy, explaining to former A.G. Mike Stewart (Timothy Carhart) that Montana’s A.G. After a brief run as the U.S. Attorney, Cassidy was tapped to become the full-fledged United States Attorney General. For once, a character from “Yellowstone” was written off the show, rather than killed off. The episode, “An Acceptable Surrender,” aired in 2020, so despite the show’s purposefully ambiguous political landscape, it seems likely that Cassidy ended up working for Donald Trump (or rather his fictional counterpart).
In real life, Rohrback married Walmart heir Stuart Walton in 2019, and according to Financial Express, she became part of “America’s wealthiest family,” with a net worth projected to be $274 billion by early 2024. I’m pretty sure almost anyone in Rohrbach’s position would stop acting if they became a billionaire, but according to Page Six, Rohrback also potentially took time off because she became pregnant with the couple’s first child in 2021. According to Financial Express, the couple has homes in Arkansas and Malibu, and Rohrbach’s is taking flight lessons from Walton, who is a pilot. Apart from his appearance in “Yellowstone,” the actor was last credited in Woody Allen’s 2019 film “A Rainy Day in New York.”

After a nearly two-year-long midseason gap, during which series star Kevin Costner left the show, “Yellowstone” is finally set to return on Paramount Network on November 10, 2024. The second half of Season 5 is being advertised as the show’s final episodes, in fact, according to some reports, this may not be the last chance to see either Kelly Reilly’s Beth or Cole Hauser’s Rip.
